New Orleans Arena

Located adjacent to the Louisiana Superdome, the Arena is within walking distance of 18,000 hotel rooms, the Central Business District, the French Quarter, and riverfront attractions. With seating capacity of up to 19,000 for concerts and 18,500 for basketball, the Arena has attracted a number of new events.

All About the Arena

The New Orleans Arena opened in the fall of 1999 as an indoor facility to house sporting events, concerts, and live shows. Officially fixated at 1501 Girod Street, the New Orleans Arena is located right in the heart of downtown New Orleans. the New Orleans Arena is within walking distance of premier hotels, uptown shopping, and the world famous French Quarter. The Louisiana Superdome - homefield of the National Football League professional football team and Superbowl 44 Champion New Orleans Saints - lies adjacent to the New Orleans Arena. The New Orleans Arena can seat approximately 19,000 spectators, over 2500 of those seats being club seats. In addition to the spacious layout, the Arena also offers over 50 luxury suites.

Events

The New Orleans Arena plays host to many major events on the gulf coast. WWE, WWF and WCW are three large wrestling corporations that have each held events at the New Orleans Arena during prime time venues. Major music headliners have performed concerts at the New Orleans Arena - Lady Gaga, Britney Spears and Usher are a few of the more recent artists to put on shows at the New Orleans Arena.

Sports

The New Orleans Arena has proven to be a fantastic site to house sporting events. In 2002, the city of New Orleans acquired a professional basketball team, the Hornets. The New Orleans Arena is the official home stadium of the Hornets and over 40 regular season games are played there. New Orleans also has an Arena Football League team, the Voodoo, who also play their home games in the Arena. The New Orleans Arena was the site of the 2007 and 2008 Arena Football League championship game, the ArenaBowl.

In 2008, the New Orleans Arena hosted the National Basketball Association's All-Star Game. Throughout the years, the Arena has also hosted numerous NCAA basketball tournaments.

The New Orleans Arena has also hosted a heavyweight boxing match between Roy Jones Jr. and Eric Harding.
