Not Just The Average Convention Center.
New Orleans Convention Center
New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, named for the former Mayor, provides over one million square feet of exhibit space over an 11 block area. Located on the banks of the Mississippi River, the newly renovated Convention Center is strategically situated blocks away from the central business district.
History
The original building was constructed as a part of the Louisiana World Exposition in 1984, and grew into one of the largest centers of its kind. As Hurricane Katrina approached the city in August 2005, thousands of residents were directed by police to take shelter in the Convention Center. Each day, more victims of the storm crowded the facility. Damage from the storm was exacerbated by overcrowding, which created an immediate need for full scale renovation of the Convention Center.

The convention center supplies wheelchairs on request and mobility scooters are available for rent. The impressive 4,032 seat New Orleans Theater at the Convention Center is available for any type of presentation or production.
